Weathering
the Storm
(M. Barker)
Life
can be a bed of roses
With blessings raining from above
Gifts appear under our noses
Showers of grace, oceans of love
Next thing you know conditions change
Thunder rolls and dark clouds form
Then lightening strikes and ain’t it strange
Just like that you’re weathering the storm
It
seems the road we all must travel
Is often fraught with happenstance
Be it paved or be it gravel
Sometimes it’s just a game of chance
I’ve seen luck so good it warrants
Casting fortune to the winds
And I’ve seen bad luck come down in torrents
A raging flood that never ends
Chorus
That’s
how it goes, without a doubt
You run for cover and try to wait it out
Just as sure as day turns into night
You search the sky but there’s no relief in sight
And when it starts it never stops
It’s like you’re waiting for the next shoe to drop
Sometimes you feel weathered and worn
We’re all just weathering the storm
But
there’s one thing you can be sure of
On this old road that we call life
You’ll find in your pursuit of pure love
You may encounter highways rife
With icy patches, hail and sleet
You’ll need that love to keep you warm
Until your journey is complete
We’re all just weathering the storm
